Faced with the more people in Beverley self-isolating local businesses are fighting back.
The Queens Head on Wednesday Market in Beverley is one of those businesses. Owner, Claire Martin who is more used to serving food in the pub is now offering a delivery service.
Speaking to HU17.net Claire explained more about what they are doing to adapt to what is an ever-changing situation.
She said;
“The way we have adapted is to offer a collection and delivery service. It is something we have decided to do this as a lot of people are self-isolating. Not because they are ill just to stay well and safe.”
“As a result of this, we are offering our very popular afternoon teas and also our home-cooked meals. These include roast dinners, fish and chips, pie and sandwiches.”
“We can also deliver all bottled beers and soft drinks we sell.”
“Customers can pay over the phone too as we have a card machine restricting the level of contact with other people.”
“You only need to order one meal to get free delivery so the minimum order is just £6.50. Anyone who wants to order more meals so they can freeze them can do so.”
“All we ask is if you plan on freezing your meal you tell us at the time of ordering.”
Business Owner Has Message For Community As We Go Into Social-Isolation
Claire is keen to that in these difficult times that where possible people think about who they give their business to.
She added;
“My message to the community is to use local businesses instead of feeding the large companies. We will be delivering every day as long as I need too or is possible to do so.”
“It has never been more important than it is now for the community to come together and do whatever they can to help one another.”
“I would also like to stress, like many small businesses in Beverley we are still open and will remain open until we are told otherwise.”
